Open the Door to 2024: Unlocking Opportunities

Sometimes life can catch you by surprise. One thing leads to the next and even when you’re not looking, new opportunities can arise. For Allie Kunkel, it was joining The Barnes Global Advisors and jumping feet first into an industry full of opportunities, potential, and people truly passionate about accelerating technologies in advanced manufacturing.

In 2020, Allie took her first step into the additive manufacturing industry through America Makes National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, where she spearheaded the ideation and execution of the Front Door to Additive - a space to connect visitors to the possibilities of additive manufacturing through interactive exhibits, videos, and workshops. The renovation marked the next chapter of the facility, sharing information and knowledge on the advancements in additive.

Shortly after, in 2021, Allie joined The Barnes Global Advisors, bringing her diverse skillset in marketing, branding, and multimedia design to the additive and advanced manufacturing industry. Her fresh perspective and creative lens deliver dynamic solutions to help companies lift their brand and tell their stories. Allie stepped into project and event management, leading three grand openings at Neighborhood 91 Pittsburgh Airport Innovation Campus. Cumberland Additive, Metal Powder Works, and JEOL all opened their doors, growing the Pittsburgh additive manufacturing ecosystem to support the region and defense industrial base.

She stated, “Oftentimes, companies don’t have a media and communications arm in-house, and this is what makes TBGA so special - the combination of technical and creative gives customers a truly unique experience unlike any other.”

As we step into 2024, Allie’s perspective serves as a reminder that the canvas is blank and yet to be painted. New opportunities might strike at any moment. Embrace the unknown. Don't be afraid to open the door and take that first step. And the new year marks the perfect opportunity to do just that, both personally and professionally. Yes, step on the treadmill and eat less sweets, but also consider tackling business goals like:

  1. Refocus your strategy: Step back and look at the overall course of your company, including objectives, events, and engagements for 2024.

  2. Refresh your brand: Branding goes beyond logos and colors—evaluate your company's mission, values, and commitment to innovation.

  3. Give your online presence a makeover: Think informative videos, photos, website, and social media campaigns to carry you through the new year.

  4. Stay in the know of industry trends: Stay smart by reading up on industry articles.

As Muhammad Ali said, "Don't be afraid to take that first step." Hit the refresh button and embrace the spirit of new beginnings.
